Suzuki GSX-R600 September 17
I recently went on a trip to ride some Ducatis in Italy. They were ok, they were almost fun after two days of riding them, but once I got back to England and jumped back onto the Suzuki termer, it just re-enforced what an astonishingly good bike it is to ride on a daily basis.
It is so easy to live with that I'm happy to forgo my preference for litre bikes in return for the extra ease of use. It's smooth, poised and goes around corners before I can blink (especially since I have new tyres on at the moment)
It's coming up to 6000 miles and I can honestly say I have laughed out loud at least once every time I've ridden the bike. I guess it's easy to see that I do love this 600.
So, on the side of modifications I've got no pipes in the pipe line, I don't really see why, as the bike sounds and looks good as standard and what would I do with an extra few HP?
I already reduced the top speed with shorter gearing and that's made a world of difference to how it fires out of corners and set off from the lights.
Raised Harris clip-ons is where I'm heading next, in an attempt to add a bit of comfort to my commute and general riding.
I'm also planning a visit to Altamura, top paint shop specialists. Hopefully they might be able to do something to make the Suzuki a little more unique looking as well as cover up some grazes from when I got punted off nearly 5000 miles ago.
Tomorrow, Brands Hatch track day, will I ever get to take this bike on more than one track day session? I can't wait to find out.
Suzuki GSX-R600 April 25
I haven't felt this excited about a longtermer in ages. Mainly I guess because I really love the Suzuki GSXR series, but also because I have been riding naked bikes all winter and now to finally have a screen and fairing to tuck in behind I'm rather overcome with happiness.
First things first though, due to my early mid life crisis and recent move to live on water with no fixed mooring place, I needed some mega security to ensure this little gixxer doesn't go walkies in the night. I have two monster sized chains which I can barely lift and a bike cover to shade peoples eyes from this shining beauty.
Next important consideration, does the key float if I cack handedly drop it in the green murky depths of the canal? Yes it does now, I was forced to consume a bottle of the finest French Vouvray in order to donate a cork to my key. It was a hard job but someone had to do it.
I've only done 100 miles on it so far but I can say for sure that I'm on the look out for a gel seat, the seat is a good shape but for my fat derrier I'd like to find something a little more compliant.
